2025 is nearly done, and our last meet up for the year is upon us! It’s been a great year so far, we’ve got a pretty big membership on facebook, a discord at least exists, and we finally got a good regular schedule going. Meet ups may be small, but it’s been great fun every time! Having just been thinking about talking to Leo about an idea I had a year ago, to now having regular meets as well as actually building a community! It’s wild to think about.
Now we’re definitely on the small side, and I’ve been dragging my feet on getting more advertising out there. I’m still getting used to do all this leadership stuff, so it’ll all be slow going. I also intend to have other people in leadership as well, outside of just Leo and I. I can’t really expect to run everything on my own in the long run. I may be pretty bad when it comes to game interest and adhd, but I just can’t wear all those hats! So let’s make this my first official recruitment post. If you have a game or genre you really enjoy and want to get people involved, give demos, or just take the lead on recruiting members that are interested in that game, let me know! Board gamers are sorely needed, since I don’t normally play regular board games, My forte is 1v1 games like warhammer or pokemon. Anything is open though, so if you have ideas for cool events and/or you have a game you love and want more people to play, message me and we’ll get things set up.
So, while the year is coming to an end, our first year still has a few more months. December will be a bit small since we just have one meet up and there’s a whole host of holidays on the way! When January comes around though, we’ll be kicking things off with a new event! We’ll be hosting a miniature painting class/hobby meet up! I love miniature wargames, and painting those miniatures is also a very fun way to express myself! I’ll be teaching a small class for anyone who has wanted to give mini painting a shot, or maybe it scares you? Well, I’ll help demystify the whole process, nothing there is going to be Rembrandt, but it’ll be ours! We’ll have a bunch of minis ready for paint, mostly space orks that I’d love to keep on hand for a club ork army that’s a combined force made by all of us!
Oh wait, we still have December! Well, that meet up is tomorrow the 6th, and it is our first official Demo Day for One Page Rules! OPR is a slimmed down wargame, that can be played with whatever minis you want to use! I 3d print stuff and have a large warhammer collection as well, so we have plenty of minis to teach with! After learning the game, I can also help narrow down faction choice as well, and then we can get you some minis, whether you’d like me to print some, or you have some of your own, or just want to build some stuff with legos, we’ll get you going in the right direction. I’m really excited for this one as I have some fun stuff planned as follow ups next year!
So now that we’ve danced back and forth over those 2 months, lets look at February because it’ll be a bit packed! Our meet ups then will be the 7th and 21st, and I have some plans for both! On the 7th, I’ll hopefully have Blood Bowl! The game of fantasy football! I’m not much of a sports fan, but blood bowl is a silly fun time having fantasy characters running around a football field beating each other up and occasionally scoring. I thought blood bowl would be a fun game to try out for super bowl weekend! I’ll get the teams 3d printed soon, and then we can try and get them names! After that, even though it’ll be a bit early, but we’ll have our own Pokemon day celebration on the 21st! Pokemon is officially on the 27th, but well the calendar doesn’t work out in our favor this year. We’ll have pokemon cards and video games to play as well as other activities for kids.
I have a few ideas for March, but I haven’t settled on anything yet, If you have any ideas let me know, I’d love to see what you guys can come up with. My current ideas are to set up some leagues of sorts for either a card games or mini wargame. Looking to start some friendly competition or maybe tell a shared story with miniatures!
Now April is a big one, one full year of the Liberty Tabletop Gaming Club! Bit of a mouthful isn’t it? I’ve never really loved it, but I’m also not the best at naming things that aren’t kids. I even keep a running list of names for when I need one in an RPG. That or just google the old famicom game “Fighting Baseball”. So around our one year anniversary I’m planning a rebrand, something with a bit more character, more fun! The name may be around this blog somewhere… I’m no graphic designer, so it’ll take me a few months to nail something anyway. I decided to change the name after seeing so many other clubs around the country with cool names, and I wanted to have a more fun name for flyers and such. I’ll start the change in April, and I’ll announce it when I do, so that no one has a chance to miss things and wonder where our club went.
2026 is going to be a great time for us, I have some bigger ideas, but all is just in the concept stage so I won’t share anything yet, but I am hoping to get some bigger events going on by this time next year! So enjoy the holidays, and get ready for more good times and fun games!
